Secretary's Statements
According to the Pradeshiya Sabha Act No. 15 of 1987, the main services to be provided by a local government institution are health services, public roads and buildings, public utility services and welfare services. In the Meegahakivula Pradeshiya Sabha, which is located in the Badulla District with 20 Grama Seva Divisions and an area of 105 square kilometers, efforts are being made to ensure the social, economic and cultural interests of the people by efficiently and effectively utilizing all the resources available locally to maintain the above-mentioned services at an optimal level.
Considering the expenditure restrictions imposed to overcome the crisis conditions prevailing in the current economy, it is a challenge to optimally utilize the income generated during the year. In the face of those challenges, the development needs identified through the participatory approach have been included in the budget, providing an opportunity for public suggestions. Furthermore, the administrative and revenue targets expected to be achieved in the year 2025 are as follows:
1. Commence annual assessments in the Meegahakivula and Karamatiya areas, which have been declared as developed areas.
2. Lease the multi-purpose building under the procurement process to generate revenue and create a new source of income.
3. Improve the water treatment unit installed in the council premises.
4. Acquire the ownership of lands that have not yet been acquired by the council. (At least 05 lands)
5. Commence promotional activities in Pitamaruwa and Roberiya divisions and the Mini Worlds End area as a tourist zone.
